Ongoing Conservation Work at Wicklow Head Lighthouse
Trial Panels of Render are now in place at Wicklow Head Lighthouse
The restoration of Wicklow Head Lighthouse was the first project for Irish Landmark Trust.
In 2021 funding from the Heritage Council under the Community Heritage Grant scheme 2021 enabled us to prepare an in-depth Conservation Report to help plan a programme of works to ensure the sustainable future of The Wicklow Head Lighthouse.
The report identified that the main issue for the building was the deteriorating exterior lime render. Trial panels of new lime render are now in place. Each panel has different ingredients and will be monitored over the next twelve months to see which render performs best.
